Black hat Guys have been gaming poor Google from the very beginning.
At first it was just keyword rich anchor text link.
Then came diversification, then PBN, then DAS etc.
Yes they work. That’s what SEO is all about.
Some magic backlinks from whatever black market you can get.
They are obviously sold. So SEOs are like a Adhar Card, Driving license, Passport or Railway ticket agent in India.
There is a legitimate way but like them these business are thriving because of illegal(Not ordained by court of Law) networking.
Doing whatever others are doing is advantageous but also disadvantageous because it does not deliver the best content possible.
Competition is fine. Competition is good. But for what. Is getting the juiciest links from sources by payment or software really worth competing.
I made my first dollars from a site I made for gun safe for vehicles. Mine was the first site in that niche.
If you know Spencers Haws blog Niche Pursuit he taught exactly how he made his survival knife site which was then immediately copied and saturated.
Similarly but not exactly my niche was also copied. But except for Gun safe review guy who has openly condemned these marketers site exclaiming they have not even held a real Gun in their hands and just copied what they learn from Niche marketers like Spencers Haws.
Thing to take note of is luckily because of my niche on YMYL a truly helpful and deserving site was created. Thats why competence in content creation or EEAT is good except EEAT in its present state is correlation not causation.

The keyword here is marketers(plural). The competitors are not really competing. They are merely helping each other to increase their share and make real site tough to rank.
Similarly Google isn’t making a better web. It is just following capitalist principles to maximise it’s profit. When SEOs start taking too much they can spare Google come up with some update.
In all this state of affairs it is the Internet that takes the most damage.
