There are few species of insects that are 100 percent trivial for ecosystem. In wild however there is no such insects. Even mosquitoes play a part.
The useless one are found near human habitat only. To name a few.
Bed bugs
House Cockroaches
Head lice
Mosquitoes
Well mosquitoes and infact all of the above can be thought of as a population control agent to some extent.
But who decides. I know you all will say to repeat my favourite word, Nature. But that is not how science community view them. Human life for them is foremost. A species whose only role is to reduce human population is a error in Nature in their view.
All of the above species if eliminated overnight will not affect the ecosystem at all. I think they say so because they think humans are at the top of the food chain.
But it is hardly true. Big cats can easily kill and eat a human. By saying top of the food chain they are mixing natural and man made food chain. We justify it by the fact that we as a species killed almost all of the big cats.
That’s not food chain though is it ? Hunting for sports cannot be said as being the top of the food chain. I don’t mean in moral way but Technical way only.
In the other hand if this is the definition then the pests listed above are at the top of the food chain.
Bedbugs for example evolved from bat bugs in cave and got addicted to humans while they were finger painting(link) there a long time ago.
They do cause deadly Decease(link) as recently discovered but their purpose is just to survive and multiply. While its close to impossible they become the Terminators of humans on Earth, at least directly but so is true for humans. There is a chance of nuclear war but still it will be almost Extinction not complete extinction. Someone that foolish will be terminated before anybody else.
A virus is more likely to cause extinction. A virus(link) is the missing link between living and non living. But I was talking about pests. Pests are not necessary for a apocalyptic virus spread on Earth. There are many man made way.
So Virus Pests Humans I think are connected like everything else but we haven’t figured it out yet.
Humans can be seen as pests of Earth. It is not so difficult to see that. Our only purpose has become to survive and multiply till we maximize Earth’s utility and then look for other planets to do the same.
If house pests are doing anything it is emulating our behaviour. They are useless to ecosystem, consider Human colony as their Earth and may be can even evolve to go into outer planets after finishing of humans. Just kidding. No it’s not possible.
Or is it ? They certainly cannot eliminate us. Wild is of no interest to them. If there is anyway they can carry on is using a virus. A mind changing virus. A virus that starts controlling our perception of these pests while also boosting immunity to any threat of Decease from them.
In other words they become our new pets. Such a virus is highly unlikely to be a result of non human activity. Here I am

Biological living is ideology that body can choose. Practically helpful in only very small context but not true.

Virus is most living. Virus is least living. Body is living It can choose. Body is not living It cannot choose.

For us infinity. Beyond understanding without comparison with our size. That’s the size of infinity. Aliens are outside that. Forget about them for your own sake.

Harmful and useful virus. This distinction must go.
Ecological useful and useless pests distinction must go.
Humans have become pests. House pest are our mirror. We are useless to ecosystem.
Only Ecological Harmful and harmless human distinction must remain.

Human current state which is pest to ecosystem will be reflected. Why ?
First time such large scale division in consciousness of Humans as Ecological useful and Harmful humans. More accurately Ecological more harmful and less harmful.
There will no time to change the perception of house pests. Self will be breakdown greatly to do even daily activities. Only solution will be Pest control.
Ecological harmless can use Cheap pest control. Ecological harmful(USA) use Expensive pest control. So Virus is maximum usefull and not harmful.
House pest only use to ecosystem can be population control. It’s not quantitative. Pest do not have that much brains. So who has. Virus. Everything is done by Virus.

A Decease is going to spread. And each country has to reduce their population to 1/4 indirectly by choosing pest control method whose cost will be suitable accordingly to their Ecological status.
